Strategic Training Group, LLC "STG" offers all standard less-lethal weapon certification training courses.  Being properly trained and certified ensures proper deployment and use of a defensive "tool" and reduces liability.  Our Instructors have private security, law enforcement and military experience.  STG is also certified to offer the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission "OPOTC" Private Security Certification Course.  This is a comprehensive 124 hour curriculum mandated by the State of Ohio based on current security issues and trends in today's hostile environments. Non-Lethal Certifications

This training is a MUST for armed security officers or unarmed security officers who are authorized to carry defensive weapons.  Use of Force, Deadly Force, and Realistic Scenarios are part of the training.

Introduction to Executive Protection
Fast Track to Executive Protection

This intense three (3) day fast track course is devoted to academic operational theory and practical exercises. The participants will receive experienced instruction on critical skills and knowledge pertaining to personal protection operations.  Participants will be tested on and required to demonstrate their understanding and ability to perform critical skills including:
 

  • Introduction to the History of Close Protection

  • Role and Responsibility of the Protection Specialist

  • Case Studies / Attacks Against Principals (AOP)

  • Route Surveys and Advances

  • Protective Formations and Moving the Principal

  • Cover & Evacuate Methods

  • PS Appearance and Etiquette

  • Arrivals & Departures

OC Individual Chemical Aerosol
 Individual Chemical Aerosol

This course is for students who want to carry individual chemical aerosol, such as OC, for use in their day to day duties. This course will cover: OC selection, Use of Force, deployment tactics, subject approach, surviving an aerosol assault, medical concerns and de-contamination procedures. This class also discusses legal and tactical considerations for security officers. Situational awareness and critical decision making will be discussed throughout the course.  This course is modeled after the OPOTC OC Chemical Aerosol Course.

 

Note: Direct contamination is NOT mandatory. Students should be in good physical condition to participate. 

 

Equipment required:  Eye protection, change of clothing (portions of training will be outside regardless of weather) and duty belt.

Defensive Tactics w/ Handcuffing

This course covers fundamental principles of subject approach, control, joint manipulation, and handcuffing. Officer safety tactics, body alignment, and legal considerations for multiple levels of force will be emphasized throughout this course when it applies to closing the distance and controlling the subject. This class also discusses legal and tactical considerations for security officers. Situational awareness and critical decision making will be discussed throughout the course. This course is modeled after the OPOTC Subject Control Course.
 

Note: This course requires physical exertion, bending, twisting at the waist, and raising your arms above your head.  Students should be in good physical condition in order to participate in the drills.

 

Equipment required:  Duty belt if issued and clothing for physical activity.

Impact Weapons

Using a comprehensive learning and dynamic hands-on curriculum, students will learn how to utilize impact weapons in direct and/or transitional ways for controling subject resistance or attacks through strikes, jabs or blocks and establish practical anatomical control over a subject for the purposes of escort and/or handcuffing. This course is modeled after the OPOTC Impact Weapons Course.

 

Note: This is a physical course and students should be in good physical condition to participate.

 

Equipment required:  Duty belt, baton with carrier, flashlight and clothing for physical activity.  Some equipment available for use if you do not have a duty belt.

Tactical Carbine / Rifle

This intermediate carbine/rifle course which will build upon the foundational knowledge and skills taught in a basic course, and will focus on advanced techniques and strategies for utilizing a carbine or rifle in a variety of situations. The course will include instruction on advanced marksmanship, movement and positional shooting, low-light and no-light shooting, advanced reloading and malfunction clearance, and the use of cover and concealment. The course will also include advanced drills and live-fire exercises to help students develop and refine their skills. Additionally, the course will include instruction on the use of various accessories and optic systems, as well as advanced tactics for room clearing and close-quarters combat. Overall, the goal of this intermediate carbine/rifle course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively and efficiently utilize a carbine or rifle in a variety of high-stress, real-world scenarios.

Student is required to provide eye & ear protection, a serviceable 5.56 or .223 carbine or rifle, a sling suitable for a variety of shooting positions – tactical type preferred, magazine pouch with minimum of (3) three serviceable magazines and minimum 200 rounds of ammunition. Optional items include knee and elbow pads, shooting mat. Carbines and Rifles may be shared between students.
